During an MSA Board meeting, it was discovered that many active duty service members were in need of food assistance. While COVID-19 presented some challenges, we were able to help provide nonperishable food items and food gift cards, with the help of MSA, Fulfill, Red Cross and JBMDL members, to be distributed at JBMDL. Food distribution will continue on a monthly basis.
Civic-Military Meet and Greets
Multiple times a year, MSA Board members get together with JBDML Commanders and their spouses for an informal meet and greet event. Whether at the beautiful Laurita winery, the exciting Grape Adventure & Safari event or out to a ball game at BlueClaws Military Appreciation Night, we want to connect civic and military leaders, to strengthen relationships, show our unending support and learn from one another!
Mission Spotlight
The goal of the Mission Spotlight series is to elevate awareness, spark interest and broaden the perspectives of our MSA followers. With this initiative, we are providing a platform to share the stories of our US Military and drive support and advocacy for our premier installation, JBMDL.
Alliance for Young Military (AYM)
As a Military Support Alliance of New Jersey initiative, the mission of the Military Support Alliance of Young Military is to establish and foster relationships with young military and families, in order to provide a sense of belonging to the local civilian community and address any challenges facing the younger military demographic.
Community Support
The Military Support Alliance of Young Military provides a system of support to the large community of young military personnel and their families on and around Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst. Military life is inherently unique, and for younger members and their families, it can come with additional challenges. This initiative will be proactive in seeking out engagement with this population and addressing their unique needs.
Involvement from local civic leaders, elected officials, base leadership, school systems, community organizations, and employers is essential in order to build and foster relationships and provide a complete system of support.
JBMDL Honorary Commander Program
The Honorary Commander program, a program designed and executed by the Air Force, inducts regional influencers and assigns them to a Commander and unit at the base. The HC spends a year learning, attending tours, ceremonies, sharing special occasions and often building strong personal friendships with the leadership and members of that unit, as well as their families.
We are proud to have many MSA board members who have participated in the JBMDL Honorary Commander Program, and a few who were chosen for the honor of continued service as an Honorary Commander Emeritus. Air Mobility Command which is the Air Force Major Command that overseas McGuire AFB and JBMDL, also has its own Civic Leader Advisory Council. Three current members of the MSA Board of Directors are AMC Civic Leader Alumni.
